FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything about our data, tools and privacy.
Where do CalcFX rates come from?
Three open, key-less services are aggregated: a wide-coverage feed (200+ fiat & crypto, daily), a 160+ fiat backup feed, and a central-bank reference feed (business days). Failover is automatic and the active feed code (A/B/C) is shown.
How often is data updated?
Every 30 minutes, cached server-side. Pages show “updated N min ago” plus the snapshot date so you never mistake overnight data for live prices.
Are cross rates and triangular arbitrage the same?
No. A cross rate is a calculation (converting through a third currency); triangular arbitrage is a strategy exploiting pricing disagreement. We provide both calculations — the execution decision stays with you.
Why is it free?
The data sources are free and open. Server costs are covered by optional lightweight ad slots (off by default). We do not sell data and require no accounts.
What data do you collect?
Anonymous aggregate page counters (day + path) for internal statistics. No raw IPs stored, no tracking cookies, full functionality without login.
Is the crypto data accurate?
Same open source as fiat, daily. Crypto trades 24/7 with high volatility, so displayed prices may lag exchange prints.
Does it work on mobile?
The entire site is responsive; converter and triangular tools are touch-optimised. “Add to home screen” gives an app-like experience.
What if data looks wrong?
Every snapshot carries source and timestamp. If one source drifts, admins can reorder sources and force-refresh in one click — and feedback is always welcome via the about page.
